Who is Wilson
Air Conditioning?
Wilson Air Conditioning Service, Inc. was founded in 1969 by our company president, Robert Wilson. His vision was to provide heating, ventilation, air conditioning contracting, and quality service to the community. We began our journey in Douglas county and now offer services in Cobb, Douglas, and Paulding counties as well as the rest of West Metro Atlanta from our office in Powder Springs. Our commercial department offers light industrial new unit installs and remodels for restaurants, churches, retail buildings and more. We are a licensed HVAC contractor in 6 states, to include: Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North and South Carolina.

For those who require organization, quality workmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction, our installation department is a step ahead of the rest. We are active members of CAAG (Conditioned Air Association of GA), ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America), and our local business associates including Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the Paulding County Chamber.

Energy Savings is a priority! Our quality is second to none and we guarantee it.

It's always nice to have a face for the voice behind the phone calls. Please meet our exceptional and friendly management.

Meet the team

My early memories of my daddy, after he completed his service in the Marines after WWII, was to start his own sheet metal business in Clarkdale, Georgia called W.L. Wilson Sheetmetal. As a little boy I remember helping in my daddy’s shop along with my (now passed) older brother Jim whom I lovingly called Cephus. As you might guess, I learned to use sheet metal in many ways not realizing as a boy, in my not too distant future, I would be creating custom ductwork for my heating and cooling business.  My father’s trade which also included family brothers from my mother’s side were my uncles; George, Vollie, Bob and Clark who would become one of the many unique stepping stones I honor in the Wilson tradition being passed from one generation to the next.

In my early years in grade school, to which you might (or might not) remember, there was not much known about air conditioning and some understanding about heating.  At school, I volunteered my services for the audacious job of air controller which meant opening and closing the school windows for a nice cool breeze or managing the old steam radiator for needed warmth during the winter.  I guess you might say my early beginnings were (and still are) about bringing air comfort to my friends.   Many of my old school friends of the past have become my customers of today.
My brother being several years older than me served our country in the Vietnam war; was wounded and upon returning home he had to live with post war injury complications.  Yet with determination in 1969, Cephus began Wilson Air Conditioning Service.  I went on to college to study and complete Mechanical Engineering with an A/C option and worked with my brother in my spare time.
Here in the south, many families pride themselves on creating a business that they can put their    family name on… The same goes for Wilson Air Conditioning Service because we know our name carries great meaning when trust is earned.  It is our desire to create a legacy of excellence, a reputation of commitment and impeccable service to our community.  After 50 years in the business of bringing comfort to you and your family, we at Wilson Air Conditioning Service simply call this our home.

Where We Began...
Where we're headed...
After I graduated college in 1971, I worked at West Georgia College campus. One of my many duties was keeping the air and heat in working order.  After West Georgia College, I worked at several different air conditioning companies, one being Season’s 4 which is a commercial AC manufacturer.  I was trained to keep inventory of sheet metal, quality control, traveling the country doing startups, troubleshooting and more.  Also, importantly, I worked in a variety of businesses in customer service around South Cobb and Douglas County.

In 1975 I not only joined Wilson AC but my brother, Cephus, due to health conditions handed over the keys of the company to me which was located in Douglasville on Newman Street at the time.

In 1978 I moved the business to Hiram and continued to grow until I made my final move in 1984 to our present property in Powder Springs.  The company has grown to a 17,000 square foot building that houses offices, a sheet metal shop, and a warehouse complex.   We continued to service our neighbors here in Georgia and grew our commercial side which led us to work in Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama and of course Georgia!

A few custom, fun, and challenging jobs I recall was work on the “first original Kentucky Fried Chicken” in Kentucky. We not only did the air and heat restoration, but also blended our artistic skills using Pecky Cypress wood to be in harmony with the earlier KFC décor which is now connected to a second newly built KFC restaurant.  Our desire was to create both a blend of mechanical work with an artistic flow to the adjoined buildings.

One other exciting job we performed was right here in our community at Hiram Elementary School.  We needed to get 60 pieces of AC equipment on their rooftop.  We hired a helicopter to help us place the units on the rooftop of the school in no more than 60 minutes.   This required much practice, precision and as always keeping everyone safe as a priority.

Closer to home at Wilson AC there was an exciting moment in the company’s automated computer history.  We moved to a computerized CAD system which allowed us to create and adjust quickly to make custom curbs and precision offsets and fittings to ensure good airflow.
The years have “blown” by and it is hard to believe that Wilson Air celebrated 50 years of service in 2019.  The business has grown, changed, and adjusted to fit the needs of our customers.  Yet we hold closely to our commitment of excellent customer service.  I have retired “sort of” as it is hard to completely stop doing something I love so; I still check in from time to time and see what is happening at WAC.  I do have a special person who is running the day to day operation, Philip Sinyard, and he has been with me since before he could drive a car. I still have warm memories of his mom dropping him off and watching him grow to share the same commitment to the company as myself.  In high school, Philip competed in a sheet metal competition called VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) where he came in first in district and region and later scored a perfect 100 on his State Unrestricted AC exam to receive his conditioned air license.
Our knowledgeable office staff and our qualified service technicians are highly trained and certified to serve your needs whether home or business.

Here’s to the next 50 years!
